MEMBERSHIP COVENANT
Having received Christ as my Lord and Savior and been baptized, and
being in agreement with North Center's purposes, I now feel led by
the Holy Spirit to unite with the North Center family. In doing so, I
commit myself to God and to the other members to do the following:
I. I WILL PROTECT THE UNITY OF MY CHURCH
I will protect the unity of my church
...by acting in love toward the other members
...by refusing to gossip
...by honoring those with leadership responsibilities
...by forgiving one another, as the Lord forgives us
Romans 14:19 TLB - In this way aim for harmony in the church,
and try to build each other up.
1 Peter 1:22 TEV - Have a sincere love for other believers, love
one another earnestly with all your heart.
Ephesians 4:29 NIV - Do not let any unwholesome talk come
out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up
according to their needs...
Hebrews 13:17 NIV - Obey your leaders and submit to their
authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account.
Obey them so that their work will
be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage
to you.
II. I WILL SHARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF MY CHURCH
I will share the responsibility of my church
...by praying for its growth
...by inviting the unchurched to attend
...by warmly welcoming those who visit
1 Thessalonians 1:1-2 TLB - To the church.... We always thank
God for you and pray for you constantly.
Luke 14:23 NCV - The master said to the servant, 'Go out to the
roads and country lanes, and urge the people there to come so my
house will be full...'
Romans 15:7 TLB - So warmly welcome each other into the church,
just as Christ has warmly welcomed you; then God will be glorified.
III. I WILL SERVE THE MINISTRY OF MY CHURCH
I will serve the ministry of my church
...by discovering my gifts and talents
...by being equipped and serving in at least one ministry position
...by developing a servant's heart
1 Peter 4:10 PHILLIPS - Serve one another with the particular
gifts God has given each of you.
Ephesians 4:11-12 NIV - God] gave ... some to be pastors and
teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the
body of Christ may be built up...
Philippians 2:4-7 NIV - Each of you should look not only to
your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your
attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who ... took on]
the very nature of a servant...
IV. I WILL SUPPORT THE TESTIMONY OF MY CHURCH
I will support the testimony of my church*
...by attending faithfully
...by living a godly life*
...by giving regularly
Hebrews 10:25 NIV - Let us not give up meeting together ... but let
us encourage one another...
Philippians 1:27 NIV - Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a
manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.
1 Corinthians 16:2 TLB - On every Lord's Day each of you should put
aside something from what you have earned during the week, and use it
for this offering.
Malachi 3:10 NCV - Bring ... a full tenth of what you earn ...
"Test me in this," says the LORD All-Powerful. "I will
open the windows of heaven for you and pour out all the blessings you need..."
Leviticus 27:30 TLB - A tenth of the produce ... is the Lord's, and
is holy.
* IMPORTANT NOTE: People involved in sexual
immorality (having sexual relations outside of marriage, living
together without being married, etc.) and people with life styles
that involve heavy drinking or drunkenness and other practices that
are disobedient to the teachings of the Bible cannot become members
of North Center Baptist Church. By signing this covenant you are
indicating that you are not involved in any of these practices or lifestyles.
